JULY? I love and hate this time of year in equal measures. Half-way through the year, in the middle of winter is the hate side of it. I’m generally run off my feet with end of financial year (EOFY) audit deadlines. It doesn’t leave much time for casing the EOFY sales or embracing hibernation mode. The flip side… I love an open fire, I love to layer up, my excessive jacket collection finally gets a run for its money AND… CHRISTMAS IN JULY!
CHRISTMAS IN JULY
We can only dream of a white Christmas here in Perth. Christmas in July during our snow-less winter is basically the next best thing. While I’ve never actually gone all out for Christmas in July, as it is generally my busiest time of the year (audit wise), I’m thinking this might be the year to mix things up. We are in our new (to us) home, hubby is home from sea and working normal-ish hours, the girls are all on school/uni holidays and we all love Christmas. Hubby is just slow to realise that fact.
The only real Christmas in July issue right now is the fact that following our first Christmas in the new place, our 20 year old beloved Christmas tree was no longer cutting the mustard. When it came time to patch it up and pack it away for another year, I made the tough decision to part ways. I had plans to snap up a bigger and better replacement tree in the David Jones sales but annoyingly by the time I got to the sales, there was nothing left. Not even floor or display stock.
So effectively, I’m Christmas in July treeless and super keen not to fork out a fortune for the wrong (or right) tree. Which means alternative, possibly DIY trees. Or no tree at all? Which kind of goes against my idea of going all out this year.
All trees aside, I’m looking forward to having a lot of fun on the home front for Christmas in July.
