Aussie Giveaway Linkup – February 2017

Now with added co-hosts!

Aussie Reviews, Giveaways, Agent Mystery Case

The kids are back to school and I’m ready to WIN with our latest Aussie Giveaway edition!

January, sick and tired, you’ve been hanging on me
You make me sad with your eyes
You’re telling me lies
Don’t go, don’t go

January, don’t be cold, don’t be angry to me
You make me sad come and see
Oh January
Don’t go, don’t go

January | Pilot

Replace ‘cold’ in the lyrics above with ‘super bloody hot’ and those song lyrics pretty much nail my thoughts (& feelings) about finding myself in February, here in Perth. We are officially back to school with our youngest two (almost 16 & 17) today! Our eldest (18) commences her journey into nursing with two days of orientation, starting tomorrow. How on earth did that happen?

The school holidays weren’t nearly long enough and I’m feeling guilty we didn’t really ‘do’ that much as a family. My little family isn’t so little these days and I’m constantly feeling our time as a family unit is slipping away before my eyes.

I just have to keep reminding myself, our girls are so much older now. We do tend to pack a lot in during school terms. I also believe (always have) that it’s nice to give our three girls a chance to embrace the boredom of everyday life and make the most of doing nothing, without it becoming a disruption. If only I had time to personally practice all I preach.

While I’ve had plenty of time offline during the holidays, I haven’t actually had that much time off. I’m rather thankful my girls are super easy and continue to entertain themselves (with no intervention required from me). They are happily distracted with part-time jobs and occasional social lives. It means my work (from home) continues around them. Work that involves developing new websites, client campaigns, charity work and much more, especially where my new business is concerned.

Overall, this approach to the ‘holidays’ means, even with hubby away at sea, I’ve tackled a huge part of my to-do list for this term already. Who knows, at this rate, I might actually be able to include a lot more play rather than work when we head overseas later in the year.

Why, I even managed to finally make a few changes here on AMC. Did you notice? What do you think?

Apart from the look, which will continue to evolve over the coming months, as we transition to a dedicated Australian Review, Giveaway and Lifestyle website… not that much for now!

The business and blogging features will continue here in the interim but from March they will move to a new platform. One that is dedicated to the business of blogging and supports my Media & Blog Agency work.

Having already dropped a number of the more personal posts from our line-up, late last year, as well as our Worth Casing Wednesday linkup, we are looking to bring more reviews and giveaways to AMC in 2017. Don’t get me wrong. You’ll still get personal, keeping it real review posts but I’ll also be accepting guest review posts, especially from interstate bloggers. It’s all part of our Aussie Review Crew plan.

Thanks to The Play That Goes Wrong, we’re starting our search for interstate review bloggers in Melbourne. If you’d like to be our guest reviewer for this show, or just sign up to be considered for other Melbourne review ‘gigs’, please follow the instructions below.

We’re not normally in the business of making you jump through too many hoops for our giveaways and guest posts but given you’ll be reviewing The Play that Goes Wrong, at Melbourne’s Comedy Theatre where everything that could go wrong does, we’re wanting to do our due diligence for this one.  So you’ll need to have your own insurance or at the very least be prepared to attend the show at your own risk!

THE PLAY THAT GOES WRONG reviewer callout

Aussie Giveaway | The Play That Goes Wrong | Melbourne Comedy Theatre

If possible, you will need to be available for the media call (at this stage February 8 at noon), as well as attend opening night with your plus one, on February 22, where you will receive review worthy seats and a show program.

Following the show, you will need to provide an original 300 + review post, including images, within 48 hours of seeing the show. If you’ve done your review homework, attending the media call will mean you have your images and possibly some of your content before you even hit opening night. Think interviews, behind the scenes and more.

Your review post on AMC will receive full credit, links back to your own site (if you have one), as well as an official Aussie Review Crew badge and sidebar feature here.

You’re also welcome to make the most of this opportunity and complete a complementary post on your own site, which we can link to. For instance, a fashion or style blogger might like to do a ‘what I wore’ piece or just grab a photo or three of you in your outfit on the red/green/blue carpet and do a micro post on Instagram.

We’re also open to audition style bribes… in the way of vlogs, blog comments and sharing the social media love, especially over on Instagram (@agentmysterycase). True story.

If you think you have what it takes to join our Aussie Review Crew, one way or another, we would love to hear from you!

  • Head over and case The Play That Goes Wrong’s website, as well as our current giveaway post {here} on AMC
  • Familiarise yourself with our keeping it real (and a little different) approach to review blogging

  • Formulate a brief email pitch, Vlog or social media audition piece for why you are the perfect person to case this production
  • Be creative, bring a lot of your personality into your pitch!

Email us before February 6 (, with your pitch and/or details of your online audition (so we don’t miss it). Keeping in mind we like to keep things real, approach things a little differently, all the while remaining relevant to our existing audience.

Include The Play That Goes Wrong as the email reference if you are available for this production. Alternatively mention Aussie Review Crew Melbourne, if you want to be considered for future Melbourne review spots. Remember to include as much detail about yourself as possible.

In Melbourne and wanting to see The Play That Goes Wrong but not keen to do a review? We also have two double passes up for grabs for the February 23 show HERE, ending soon!

  1. I hear you on the family unit. Our eldest lives at the girlfriend’s house (she rarely comes here) so having a meal with the 5 of us is embarrassingly rare.

    • Our eldest has thrown a boyfriend into the mix as well and spends most of her time, especially meals time at his place. I’d force the issue but sometimes it’s easier to just go with the flow.

  2. Wow!! I loved hearing about all of your exciting changes. Can’t wait to see what’s in store. What a great opportunity to review the play too. Sounds awesome. I think it’s okay to take time out and do nothing on holidays. It gives the kids a chance to recharge and what’s holidays without cries of ‘I’m bored!’.

    • The mere mention of the word ‘bored’ in our house means housework duties. Starting with skirting boards and cleaning toilets. Funnily enough, only our youngest has actually admitted or looked like being bored. It didn’t last.

    • Thanks Erika. I’m thinking about getting the girls off to school tomorrow and giving myself the day off. I normally take an entire week off this time of year to get the house and everything else in order but I just can’t manage it this year.
