Long table lunch & charity goals rolled into one!
WEIRD, WONDERFUL & ALL FOR A GOOD CAUSE
Seven of WA’s top chefs are joining forces for Breast Cancer Care WA’s annual Long Table Lunch this year. I’m currently drooling over the menu, wishing we could fast forward to April 2nd.
Returning for its 14th year, the theme for the luncheon this year is Mad Hatter’s Tea Party. Guests are encouraged to embrace all things weird and wonderful. Weird and wonderful, certainly works for me and I’ll be there, once again this year, with bells and my mad hatter hat on. I just need to find it first!
After catching up with the organisers and chefs behind the event, to discuss menus and more, I can honestly say I’m completely mad for this year’s menu and the wonderful charity that does so much to support breast cancer patients in Western Australia.
The menu this year, is a creative masterpiece, drawing on native Australian ingredients with a twist. Guests will enjoy a range of dishes including buckwheat risotto, pressed lamb belly, and a decadent chocolate dessert set to get your taste buds tingling.
One of the chefs donating their time to this fab event is the talented Skye Faithfull. Most of you would know Skye through the delectable dishes being served up at Balthazar. What most of you wouldn’t know is that Skye was diagnosed with breast cancer just before her 26th birthday. Three years on, having experienced first-hand the effects that breast cancer has on everyday life, Skye is looking forward to giving back to the community who supported her through her diagnosis.
“I have seen how rewarding and helpful fundraisers like the Long Table Lunch are on a personal level. It will be great to see a whole bunch of women and men band together, talk about what they’ve been through and just enjoy themselves on the day,” she said.
Skye’s fellow chefs include Chase Weber of Arthouse Dine and The Standard, Evan Hayter of Arimia Estate, Chris Taylor of Fraser’s Restaurant, Patrick O’Brien of Hospitality and Trades West Coast Institute, Bob Rawlins of Innovations Catering, and Dan Masters of Rockpool Bar and Grill.
It’s an impressive lineup of chefs, who will have guests enjoying five decadent courses with premium beverages and live entertainment from the fantastic Little Belle. On the day, you’ll also have the chance to take part in raffles, lucky dips and auctions, with hundreds of prizes generously donated by organisations around WA.
The long table lunch highlights the giving spirit of the WA community, with funds raised from the day helping to provide breast care nurses, counsellors and financial assistance to West Australians affected by breast cancer.

In Perth but can’t make it along to this event? There are plenty of other ways you can support BCCWA. In particular, we are currently looking for teacups and saucers, to make table centrepieces for the event. If you have any lying around that you no longer use (even the slightly chipped and mismatched ones), we would love to hear from you.
That’s an awesome line up of cheffy talent for an awesome cause! I think you’re in for a treat!
I think so too. If only you could fly over and join me. It’s such a great day out.
