I’m arriving later than usual to the Worth Casing Wednesday Linkup party this week. Even though I’m moving house next week and currently neck deep in packing boxes, I was fortunate enough to score a last minute invite to a fab Australia Day event here in Perth yesterday…
‘Bloody Ripper’ Aussie Day Bash
TUESDAY, 26 JAN 3:00 PM
Tony Sage’s Kings Park Pad
Penthouse Rooftop
SUBSTANTIAL FOOD & DRINK PROVIDED
Bring your bathers if you want a dip in the spa
Towels & sunblock provided
FIREWORKS @ 8.00PM
Ultimo Catering + Events Michelin Star quality chefs have designed a ripper menu, guaranteed to tantalise your taste buds with flavour, texture and unique presentation. Using the freshest seasonal produce from local suppliers, look out for elements of Australian flora and fauna and inventive twists on some classic Aussie staples. Ultimo’s chefs will be smoking, barbecuing and grilling on site, and available to discuss their passion for all things food. Including the freshest produce from Weststate Seafoods.
Don’t miss The West Winds Gin ‘Crow’s Nest’ create-your-own gin and tonic station – with unique Aussie inspired flavour combinations to sample. Plus Delish Ice alcohol infused ‘poptails’ stand.
Feed your imagination!

With an invite like that… you can see why it was hard to say no. The event organisers Ultimo weren’t kidding about the substantial food and drink. My ability to take a half decent photo and get this linkup posted in time diminished the minute I hit the West Winds gin bar.
It certainly was the perfect event and location to spend Australia Day and watch the fireworks. The penthouse is actually listed for sale at the moment {see here} if you have a spare $9,750,000 plus lying around.
Poptails! Love it.
What is in the Vegemite jar?
It was a super moist lamb chop on a bed of polenta with a really interesting vegemite infused sauce.
Wow!
Sounds good doesn’t it?! I was wondering that myself!
I’m in for a poptail….
OMG they were so good. Even better infused in my glass of gin.
That looks so special and I am so glad you got to ‘get away’ from all the boxes and the stress! A wonderful event meant for you! D x
I know… it was just what I needed. Such a great friendly crowd as well.
You look fab in that dress!
Oh gosh… not me. Camille from Delish Ice. I’m a bit camera shy these days. Although we were snapped by the paper at the event but I can’t imagine that photo will make publication, considering all the VIPs at the event.
Looked like a fab event
Hope your move goes OK good luck with it 🙂
So much fun Steve. It was hard to leave. I can’t wait to the move is over and done with and I can get back into some sort of routine that doesn’t involve boxes. LOL
Wow, that penthouse is amazing! 🙂
It certainly was. Such a fab event, it was hard to get back to reality and preparing my own meals today.
So exciting to move house next week!! Have a blast at your new place! 🙂
I wish I could muster up some excitement for this move but it was unexpected and really bad timing. Looking forward to having it over and done with though. This time next week.
The event menu sounds absolutely delish! Cute idea using the Vegemite jars!
Good luck with your move next week!
Thanks Ingrid. The menu really was amazing, especially the Tim Tam pavlovas.
What a view! Glad you had a good time. Good luck with the move x
Thanks Janet. It was just what I needed with all I have going on at the moment. This time next week, I will be in unpacking mode. Hopefully it is all smooth sailing from here on in.
Well no-one could pass-up an invite with the word ‘substantial’ on it! Great event and all the best with your move. X
Thanks Jody. This time next week, we will be in the new house.
That definitely looks like an invite worth popping on – hope the move goes smoothly!
Thanks Beth. It was such a great event and a welcomed distraction from the packing.
Glad you got a tiny break in the middle of everything. Hope your move is going well!
We have a house and a moving date now (Feb 2). I’m 80% packed, it is just the fiddly stuff and far too much clothing remaining. There isn’t as much storage or cupboard space in the new place, which is going to make things interesting. I may just leave most of our stuff packed for the next move in 12 months.
Good luck with your move. Happy Wednesday.
Thanks Emily.
Darn’ I think I misplaced my moneybag with the spare change, I really wouldn’t mind that penthouse – LOL
Good for you that you could take some time out for Australia Day.
I know. Although there is no pool and only 3 bedrooms… so I’m not convinced if I did have the money if the place would suit our family demographic. Perhaps as a holiday apartment.
That looks like a fab event! I love the Vegemite jars. I spent Australia day painting my front fence. Not so glamorous but now I don’t cringe each time I drive into the driveway. Hope you are going well with the move. x
I originally had plans for a productive Australia Day but so glad I went. Just what I needed right now.
whao.. so cool ice-cream in the air 🙂 That’s certainly a great place with a view and good foods.
Such a fab event. It really will be hard to top.
I’d be taking a packing break with an invitation like that too. Sounds like a fabulous evening! =)
I know. Just couldn’t refuse and so very glad we ended up going. I real highlight to what has been a crappy start to the year.
Wow! You got a great invite and I’m glad you squeezed it in with all the packing and moving going on. Keeping your move in prayer. Take care!
Thanks so much Tina. Hope all is well with you?
Oh my god! Looks awesome and so much fun! Wish I was there for this one!!
OMG… I was thinking about you. I might have been tempted to jump in the spa if you were with me. LOL
Create-your-own gin and tonic station??? My dream!
I know and such fab gin to play with.
I like the gin and tonic station. Happy Australia Day from the States (I did mention it on facebook). Good luck on the move.
Thanks Pat. It was a little too good that gin and tonic station.
I’ve been shopping for hubby’s Birthday and trying to organise everything for it. Madly wrapping everything today! What a fantastic Aussie Day event 🙂
Di from Max The Unicorn
Hope your hubby had a great day. Sounds like you’ve gone to a lot of trouble.
I’m glad you took time off from packing boxes to attend this events – sounds like a fabulous way to spend Aust Day and see the fireworks – that view!
So very over packing and now unpacking. I’m down to my last three essential boxes with about 10 or so more that will stay packed until the next move, this time next year.
What a beautiful view and a fun day! 😀
It really was a fab day Becky and just what we needed to get through the move.
You sure had lovely weather in Perth. Nice to have had a break from the packing!
42 degrees here today and I find myself thinking about relocating to Tasmania.
What a fun way to spend Australia Day!
So much fun Alicia. Didn’t want the day to end.
