A party without cake is just a meeting

I must confess, I’ve attended some pretty impressive networking meetings lately that included a cake or two but I’ve never attended a party that didn’t include cake or even better cupcakes.

This week, I have a very special blogger flying in from Queensland to spend a week with me and our week kicks off Saturday with an Event Ready studio open day with Jonté, one of my favourite designers here in Perth. What I initially thought would be an intimate tour of Jonte’s design studio with a few of my friends and followers, is now looking like a real party.

As well as throwing a bit of a party (yes there will be cake) and helping one and all get Event Ready, we will be supporting Frocktober, raising funds for Ovarian Cancer Research. With a family history of breast and ovarian cancer, I’m always look for interesting ways to promote this worthwhile cause.

This year, apart from donating funds via my favourite bloggers, I’ve asked some of the brands and businesses that were keen to come on board for my 3rd blogging birthday giveaway celebrations to instead come to the Event Ready Frocktober party.

Now I should stress, this is not my event, I’m not running the show… I’m just having a lot of fun playing a supporting role, supporting my favourite Perth creatives and a worthwhile cause in the process.

I’m looking forward to having a whole lot of Frocktober fun on Saturday and if you are in Perth, I would love for you to pop in (however briefly) and join me for an afternoon of bubbly, cupcakes, fashion and lots of fun. Everything under the one roof to help you get event ready and well basically ready for anything.

Jonté studio will be open between 12 and  4 pm this Saturday with Jonté showcasing her latest collection together with her recently launched hire business. There will special offers, end of season sale items, some amazing giveaways and two fabulous style sessions (12:30 Spring Racing & 2:30 Going to the Ball) hosted by Perth Stylist Vicki Thompson aka The Fashionable Mum. For me, it will be all about spring racing with Melbourne Cup and a VIP event just around the corner.

After this event and my action packed week showing my mystery blogger around P-Town, I will be moving away from the style and fashion side of things here on the blog and will no longer be so front and centre on the local event scene (not that I’m getting many invites after a year or two of saying no, no, no!). It’s all part of the much bigger business picture and the blog agency. What that means for Agent Mystery Case, time will tell but you can guarantee lots of fun and lots more mystery and a whole new blogging venture that I’m looking forward to sharing with you soon.

Do you have a special event coming up? Are you doing anything special for the Melbourne Cup?

  1. Derek and I met at Canberra races on Melbourne Cup day MANY years ago. So now that the kids are a bit older we take them out of school for the afternoon and we all go to the races together. So yes, we’ll be hitting the Canberra race track for Melbourne Cup day. I don’t have a dress yet though! Need to get myself frocked up … I hope there’s cake!

I can’t wait to hear about your new bloggy adventures.

  2. We have hosted a function for the past 18 years on Melbourne Cup day but this year I am handing over the reins (yes the reins) and actually attending the Cup – very excited.

  3. The event sounds like a lot of fun. Hope it all goes well. I don’t do anything for Melbourne Cup (surprise, surprise). The new venture sounds exciting. Enjoy your day xo

    • Thanks Vanessa. I don’t normally do much for Melbourne Cup either. Work tends to get in the way for both myself and hubby. I’m really looking forward to kicking my heels up this year with Zita.

  4. Hope you guys are having a ball! Instead of watching the race tomorrow I’ll be trying to get over the fact that my little baby girl will be starting school next year after school orientation. I’m not ready!!!

    • I hope Zita is having a ball… well a good time at the very least. This is only the second time we caught up. The first was a whirlwind trip to Melbourne. We’ve certainly had some laughs and some mishaps and Zita feels like one of the family.
