This week, as event season goes into overdrive here in Perth, I’m finding my style on a budget as well as playing along with a style challenge or three.
I’m also coming to the frustrating realisation that the weight gain from my autoimmune condition and current meds is here to stay which means most of my wardrobe is a tight squeeze at the moment. What I’m left with has me feeling more than frumpy and rather mumsy, so much so that I almost want to head into hibernation mode.
Determined to get out and about, I’m in desperate need of a quick pick me up but what I’m not keen to do is break the budget on clothing that may only be worn once or twice. Normally, I would add an affordable accessory to my wardrobe but right now, I need to embrace my current size and shape, with a view to an interim wardrobe. Which is why I’ve hit the sales this week and I’m sharing some of my favourite finds.
Bargain buys that will hopefully provide some inspiration for the current style challenges that are running at the moment:
Outfit Under $50
First up I’ve teamed up with The Fashionable Mum for my latest style challenge, it’s a super easy Outfit Under $50 challenge and there are plenty of super easy ways to enter to score your next outfit on a budget on me (enter here).
Fashionomics Friday
To celebrate the return of The Fashionable Mum’s Fashionomics Friday blog series there is a mystery prize up for grabs for one lucky person that links up during July. Fashionomics is all about affordable fashion and The Fashionable Mum really is the queen of sneaking style into your grocery budget. Head to The Fashionable Mum for more details.
Outfit Under $100
One of my favourite Aussie bloggers Zoe from A Quirky Bird is hosting a world wide giveaway (#aqb100stylechallenge). You just need to put together an Outfit Under $100 to be in the running to win a $100 Coles/Myer Voucher (more details here).
Looking for Inspiration?
If you are looking for inspiration, make sure you check out our Outfit Under $50 and Outfit Under $100 challenges both past and present. If you play your style cards right, you could actually enter the one look in each giveaway. That sounds like a WIN WIN WIN to me.
MIX Apparel: Painted Print V Neck T ($5) | Hoop Earrings ($5) | Crop Seamed Pants ($8) | Denim Moto Jacket ($29)
Cotton On: The Crew T ($5) | Almond heels ($5) | Skinny Jeans ($20) | Longline Safari Jacket ($20)
I’ve had a whole lot of fun playing along this week. While I’m obviously not able to officially enter my own giveaways, that doesn’t stop me from hitting the sales and sorting my wardrobe out. I’m not so secretly hoping I’m in with more than chance to pick up the $100 gift voucher from A Quirky Bird. What do you think?
Could you put together an outfit for Under $50 or $100? How low could you actually go?
There are some very cute outfits there. I like the denim and black jumpsuits.
I don’t know how you do it Raych – you go to so many events. Seriously. I’m not working at the moment so leave the house about 3-4 times a week and that’s usually to go grocery shopping. I’m on a budget but used to eat out once or twice a week, but now it’s a rarity.
I have to admit the idea of getting dressed up and going out is just a bit beyond me at the moment!
After a year of needing to say NO to far too many things, I’m playing a bit of catch up. Having said that though, I need to pick my event battles and not attempt to do everything that is sent my way. I much preferred when I could ‘case’ events and hide in the background. Blogger has changed all that and I feel I need to make more of an effort to look my best.
I like that long line jacket by Cotton On would have thought to go there for something like this. It just shows you need to take the time to look about and you can find a bargain for what you want somewhere.
I was lucky enough to pick up a similar jacket in the SEED sale. Down from $170 to just $36. $20 at Cotton On is even better.
I’m not a fashionista but I’m very impressed with your bargain hunting – well done!
I’m not a fashionista either, or a style or fashion blogger but love a good bargain. I’m not sure I can pull of that denim jumpsuit but I’m going to give it my best shot.
Just channel your inner minion 😉
Now there’s a good look for the Perth Fashion Festival launch event. Can you imagine?! lol
Wow! I love that border stripe dress for $10! I’m fat too and I have no excuse. Thank goodness for leggings and baggy shirts!
I’m not tall enough to pull of the leggings and tunic look. I think I may need to go into hibernation mode. Gosh it is cold at the moment.
*off not of. FAIL
I’m heading out this week to case some outfits for the challenges. I think an outfit under $50 is tricky! But I’m up for it. Bron x
Can’t wait to see what you come up with.
you’ve done really well raych!
some great pieces and prices across the board!
I like quality pieces, that last and can be tweaked with accessories for individuality! hope you are well! love m:)X
Having a great week. We are in the middle of school holidays and I’m in go slow mode. Hope all is well with you?
Thanks for sharing my little giveaway sweetie. I love the $93 dollar outfit the best, gorgeous and the accessories too. Zoe xx
Happy to share the love your way Zoe. I’ve had a lot of fun styling for your challenge. We had planned to head back and do another Outfit Under $100 challenge next but I think I might be done with style challenges for the time being. I just have too much on and not enough time to promote the challenges properly.
Raychel, thanks for linking up with me. I am struggling to find time for shopping in the real world. I think I will have to find my style virtually. Hope you find some fab finds for you r events. Bron x
