GIRLS SCHOOL CINEMA
Perth’s grandest cinema experience, Girls School Cinema, is back for 2021 with a fabulous film line-up including award season favourites, feel-good flicks, classics, genius back-to-back screenings and a whole lot more.
We recently took our date night cinema experience to a whole new level thanks to Girls School Cinema. For someone that reviews films and tends to be at the cinema a couple of times per week (at least) I tend to look for the experience factor when I’m factoring in a film for actual date night.
This particular date night adventure provided me with the perfect opportunity to catch up on a film I missed reviewing during lockdown (Voyager) as well as the chance to claim a date night victory. Something that doesn’t necessarily happen when my work comes into play. It always feels more work than play. On this occasion, despite the film not necessarily hitting any high notes for either hubby or myself, it was a combination of the eclectic location and its relaxing ambience that meant this really was the whole date night package for both of us. Surprisingly so.
Don’t believe me… just watch!
If the iconic and historical building isn’t enough to put an interesting twist on your next date night, you’ll also find fire pits to toast marshmallows, delectable charcuterie boards from the candy bar as well as a selection of delicious toasties and home-made soups. Add to that a surprisingly super cosy cinema experience inside the grand hall complete with colourful beanbags and a licensed bar for all your beverage needs with Gage Roads Brewing Co and MadFish wines, not to mentioned delicious steaming mugs of mulled wine and… cocktails!
This perfect date night location tops it all off with the option to upgrade to the premium lounge area with double beanbags made for sharing!
“Girls School Cinema is the best cinema to relive magical and iconic cinema moments, from feel- good rom coms to ground-breaking thrillers, and this year’s program features an incredibly diverse offering that is sure to please everyone. Not only can you catch recent Oscar front-runners like Nomadland and Promising Young Woman, but also revisit incredible works from Wes Anderson, Christopher Nolan, Quentin Tarantino and Stanley Kubrick.” – Courtney Meagher, Cinema Manager
If you are looking for more than movies for your next date night, the Girls School Cinema have that covered as well. This season you can expect gallery exhibitions, tours and even quiz nights for die-hard fans of Harry Potter, Disney or film!
Girls School Cinema comes from the team behind FRINGE WORLD Festival and Rooftop Movies and runs from May to 31 October. It’s well worth a visit or two.
