FIFTY SHADES DARKER

No More Rules, No More Secrets. Jamie Dornan and Dakota Johnson return as Christian Grey and Anastasia Steele in Fifty Shades Darker, the second chapter based on the worldwide bestselling “Fifty Shades” phenomenon.

The new installment arrives February 9, inviting you to slip into something a shade darker.

Expanding upon events set in motion in 2015’s blockbuster film that grossed more than $560 million globally. When a wounded Christian Grey tries to entice a cautious Ana Steele back into his life, she demands a new arrangement before she will give him another chance.

As the two begin to build trust and find stability, shadowy figures from Christian’s past start to circle the couple, determined to destroy their hopes for a future together.

WIN WIN

To be in the running for one of five double passes to Fifty Shades Darker, comment below letting me know about the best or most interesting Valentine’s day gift you’ve ever received. If you’ve never received something for V-day, tell me about your best gift, in general.

Me? Well I’ve certainly had some interesting gifts over the past 22 years with hubby. Some more memorable than others.

Like the time hubby attempted to cook Steak Dianne, my favourite meal at the time. It was our first Valentine’s Day together as a married couple and hubby was trying his best to impress on a budget. He approached a chef friend for the recipe and some much needed tips but mistook three cloves of garlic in the sauce for three whole garlics.

Funnily enough (although I don’t remember it being funny at the time), I could smell the disaster meal a suburb away and the aroma lingered on in our tiny apartment for many months. Needless to say, Steak Dianne is no longer my favourite meal and hubby has taken a few cooking classes since then.

Now over to you!

  1. I read the first book on holiday last year – I didn’t realise it was going to be quite THAT racy! When we were first dating, we would always buy thoughtful and relatively lavish Valentine’s gifts for each other, now we’re lucky if we remember to get a card! I guess every day is Valentine’s Day if you think about it 🙂

  2. Sweetest Valentine gift Ive ever recieved was from my teenage son, it was a single red rose as he knows I love them. Really made my day!

  3. Best gift I received for Valentines day was a video that my husband made all about our kids. I love it and still watch it all the time!

  4. OMG I have been away from blogging for too long because you have an awesome new look! Best V-Day gift was when my husband hit up Coles on the way home and came home with half the confectionary aisle in two full shopping bags – there was basically one of every chocolate bar in there. Weirdly, the bags also contained some chocolate easter bunnies (love it when the supermarkets get their seasonal product out early) and a vacuum-wrapped tray of uncooked meatballs (possibly a sneaky way of slipping in his own v-day gift?)

  5. Valentine’s Day doesn’t hold all that much significance to me as I’d much rather celebrate our wedding anniversary. That being said, you can never go wrong with chocolates, champagne or flowers for me regardless of the day 😉 Visiting from #teamIBOT

  6. Never been much into Valentine’s Day, or other gift giving/receiving. I know, I’m weird. Those who know me best, know that any gift of chocolate is quite enough for me, and will possibly make me love you forever!

  7. An unwieldly ceramic LAZY SUSAN. So awkward and large. I dumped it in the backyard and its now used as a bird bath. The birdies love it!

  8. A signed contract that I was to receive a full body rub/massage/kisses/caresses/tickles, every single day or night for the next 12 months, each session to last a ‘minimum’ of 20 minutes. With a no-sex clause (unless of course I insisted hahaha). And he remained true to it too, shame he didn’t remain true to me……….was the only thing he had going for him!!!

  9. Most interesting: this g-string with the front bit an elephants face, focus on the trunk. It was grey and fluffy like a stuffed toy. What made it truly interesting was that it was anonymous, came in the mail. Wife was well and truly pissed off, still is every time I bring it up or offer to get it out and model it for her.

    • OMG that’s hilarious and a lot creepy both you offering to model it and the fact it was sent in the first place. Sounds like something one of my sisters would do… ie. send my hubby an anonymous, inappropriate gift to get my back up.

  10. The gift from my best friend on Valentines Day. I’d much to my joy finally been dating the man of my dreams, object of my lust for what felt like ever, well at least he seemed PERFECT from an outsiders opinion, only to discover he wasn’t really that well hung down below, actually not hung at all unless you considered a jellybean on the firm to be acceptable lol. Anyway, long story short, after many confidential conversations, distressed too I must add, that she gave me a penis pump on VD, to do with what I saw fit!

After nearly a year of giving it the best effort possible(relationship, not using the gift hahahahaha), he anonymously received said gift on his doorstep a few Valentines Day’s later, long after I was done and dusted 🙂

  11. One of my EX-boyfriends was quite the joker, so he thought, well I wasn’t too amused the year he gifted me a reel of fishing line, explaining that I was his perfect catch!

  12. A (gay) school friend of mine gave me a large Easter Egg for valentine’s day one year, but I’ve never had a boyfriend etc no VDay pressies for me. My mum usually gives me a card though!

    • My first boyfriend gave me a stuffed toy. A mouse. My BFF at the time, suggested it to him. I couldn’t think of anything worse. I wasn’t into stuffed toys and if you were going to go that way… why a mouse? It was pink and kind of cute. It was also the first gift a boy had given me, so I kept it for far too many years as a result.

  13. HaHa, that’s so funny! I can understand that you were put off Steak Dianne forever! We have a recipe called Chicken Garlic 20 – I’m glad that my hubby has not been tempted to put in 20 garlics rather than cloves! How was the movie? Eek!

    • I do a 40 cloves of garlic chicken soup, when anyone in the house looks like getting the flu. Now the film… hubby wasn’t exactly thrilled, so I should have left him at home and dragged you instead.

We sat through the first movie the previous night. I’m still digesting both. The second is definitely better than the first but I suspect you need to either be a fan of the actor & body of Mr Grey or the books, to really rave about this one.

  14. I can’t remember receiving anything for Valentines day other than flowers (sometimes). We really don’t make a fuss of it. However, I can tell you about my first ever Christmas gift received from my husband as a married person. It was a HOSE … a practical gift for when we bought our first home. Hmmmm. Not a good start. I was not very impressed! LOL Hopefully he has learnt a thing or two since then. #TeamLovinLife

  15. One year hubby surprised me with a delicious gourmet champagne breakfast and a Hot Air Balloon ride over the Barossa Valley! Followed by lunch at a winery, obviously. Best Hubby Ever!

  16. The most interesting Valentine’s Day gift I’ve received is a Ouija Board. I was single at the time but still, such an evil gift!

  17. The most interesting Valentine’s Day gift I’ve ever received would have to be the 2 years out of date box of chocolates. Interesting, only due to the cockroach that crawled out of the box upon opening.
