Aussie Giveaway Linkup, now with added co-hosts!
November 1st and co-incidentally, my mother-in-law’s birthday and the first Tuesday of November which also means the race that stops most of the nation. Melbourne Cup. I’ll be celebrating with hubby at a mystery event in Perth thanks to PPR. I’m assuming all will be revealed on Instagram as the day and drinks progress.
A PINCH AND A PUNCH FOR THE FIRST OF THE MONTH
For me, with a family history of breast and ovarian cancer, it’s also a timely reminder to check my breasts for lumps and changes. A different kind of pinch hopefully without the punch for the 1st of the month. Although this month is certainly going to be packing a punch in terms of events.
Just this past week, I pretty much had back to back events, not that I could say ‘yes’ to all of them but after a good month of saying ‘no’ to almost everything, I thought it was high time I came out of hibernation mode, so I may have overdone things a little. Going on my Instagram feed, you could even say a lot. I blame my all or nothing approach to life that I can’t seem to shake.
I’ll explain more about my crazy week on the blog for our Worth Casing Wednesday linkup tomorrow and hope no-one stages a blogging intervention.
I must confess, I’m still finding it hard to believe we are in November and that Christmas party invites have started to arrive, with the first event NEXT WEEK.
In terms of upcoming events this month, I’m super excited to be once again involved with the Spring Racing Day charity event at Ascot for Breast Cancer Care WA on November 12. I had so much fun with Vicki, the Shropshire Stylist (formally The Fashionable Mum) last year. Not really knowing much about betting, we took our chances with a mystery bet (it pretty much had my name on it) and ended up having a little win.
This year, the event falls on our 21st wedding anniversary and hubby will be joining me track side to celebrate.
Like me, hubby only bets on the horses once or twice a year. Melbourne Cup day for starters and then we generally head to Ascot (here in Perth) for one of their bigger event racing days. Unlike me, hubby always seems a little more prepared and researched when it comes to picking the winning horse. I on the other hand spend far too much time shopping for the perfect outfit partaking in a different kind of research and development. Which is still a WIN WIN in my books.
Now speaking of winning…

NOVEMBER GIVEAWAYS…
Have you had any wins lately? What are your plans this month? Can you believe Christmas is just around the corner?
Oh my God, you are busy!!! November is going to fly by.
I think it might. Hubby heads back out to sea for a month at the end of the month and our eldest graduates from year 12.
Great to see you back! I didn’t know there was an Ascot in Perth too! How funny!
Thanks Sammie. Ascot throw a pretty big event for Melbourne Cup. I should actually try and make it one year.
Welcome back. I love this day in Melbourne and always laugh that we get a public holiday for a horse race.
It should be a national holiday. So many people take time off work or have a long lunch. Here in Perth with the three hour time difference, the race is at lunch time. Heading to Melbourne one year is on my wish list. Might put some feelers out for next year.
Glad to see you back and blogging! I too can’t believe it’s already November!

Thanks Ingrid. Make sure you pop over and enter your favourite review posts in our latest giveaway and linkup when you get the chance.
I don’t know how you keep up the pace with all these events. I need my events spaced out VERY far apart! lol We have an Ascot in Brisbane too! Nothing happening for me for Melbourne Cup. Home alone – ho hum!
I prefer my events spaced too and I’m getting better at saying no.. Like all introverts (I know debatable) I need my downtime. The invites just seem to come all at once.
You’re so right. This time of year gets so crazy. By the way, congrats on your upcoming wedding anniversary. What a happy coincidence you’ll get to celebrate together at such a lovely event. x
Super, super crazy. Which is probably why everyone brings their Christmas parties forward. Personally, I’d love no talk or hint of Christmas until December.
Glad to see you back in the race – oh, Happy Melbourne Cup Day as I write! Not that blogging is a race, but it sometimes feels that way and I don’t know how you keep up with all the events. I have to take deep breaths and go for long lonely walks to ramp up my energy in between social things. Pick a winner today! See you on Instagram 🙂
Running a slow race here. I’m having lots of downtime. I honestly need it after big events. Getting much better at knowing my limits and pacing myself, just not this past week.
Are you doing any special for Melbourne Cup? Perhaps we could organise a low key blogger event next year?
A mystery event, oh that sounds amazing! We don’t do much for Melbourne Cup, though it is the only bet I place all year long. Actually that’s not true, my Dad places the bet for me, has been doing so all my life and says he isn’t going to stop now. x
I could have sworn I replied to your message. Must be one of those rare occasions where I replied in my head and didn’t follow through. I blame the half a glass of cider I had at the Melbourne Cup event. It packed a punch.
I’m much like you. Tend to have hubby put my bets on. I wouldn’t know how.
You are already busy…and have been. I do hope you continue to have fun along the way too. Good to see you back.
Definitely needs to be more fun in my life. I need to up my ‘one new thing a week’ challenge and get back to more spontaneity.
Busy lady. Hope your are having fun!
Lots of fun but I’ve honestly over done it this past week. I blame the month of saying no to everything. It kind of set me into overdrive.
Glad to see you back to blogging this week yourself. I’m hoping to host a little blogger catchup for Christmas. Hoping you can join us. What days would suit you?
Thanks for being lovely hosts! x
