Worth Casing Wednesday – Blogger Survival Kit Revealed

2014 to 2015 agent mystery case

Our last Worth Casing Wednesday for 2014 as we welcome a hopefully bigger and brighter New Year.

2014 to 2015 agent mystery case

I must confess, after my Christmas whinge fest last week (All I want for Christmas is for it to be over), I briefly found some Christmas spirit (the non alcoholic variety), only to end up on forced bed rest, which resulted in an even more low key Christmas than I had initially hinted at.

There was no over the top menu, there were no over the top gifts under the tree. There were a few last minute gifts wrapped from the home delivered grocery shopping. As you do. Miss 13 was the lucky recipient of a 2.5 kilo tub of Dijonnaise sauce. She may have been delighted.

All our usual Christmas traditions went out the window. Somehow we survived. I’m pretty sure I slept through most of Christmas and Boxing Day. My grand plans for blogging this last week, fell apart at the seams, much like me.

It was rather ironic to receive a blogger survival kit on a week where I couldn’t manage to crawl out of bed let alone think about blogging.

After a week of wondering what the heck was in the box, I finally managed to open my Christmas gift (Blogger Survival Kit) from hubby. I’m not sure Mr C’s idea of blogging survival is the same as mine. What do you think?

It certainly was a quirky gift and almost in keeping with our low key gift giving this year. That saying ‘it’s the thought that counts’ springs to mind but only in the most positive way. Mr C isn’t usually one to put a lot of thought or effort into gift giving. I know how much he hates shopping at the best of times and I really appreciate the effort he went to this year.

Considering chocolate is off limits to me, it was no surprise that Mr C quickly claimed this part of the gift for his plus one blogger duties.  Apart from the chocolate, there was one other item that I wasn’t exactly thrilled with. Can you guess what it is?

I’m now the not so proud owner of selfie stick. I tend to think of them as weapons of self-destruction. I may need to set myself a challenge to use it.

Speaking of challenges, I’m planning on using the rest of my down time to actually write some New Year’s resolutions. Something completely new for me as I tend to admit defeat before I even start and give resolutions a huge miss. This year, things are going to be a tad different and that may or may not include the blog. One thing is for sure, I’m looking forward to bringing you more ‘mystery’ in 2015.

  1. When you popped the question I immediately thought of the stick. Hahaha – it would be a real challenge for me too to use it. But, no surprise really, last time I visited NYC, there were so many with them e.g. on Top of the Rock. Hubby’s gift sure is sweet, though 🙂 Happy New Year and a lot of health to you!

  2. I hope you get a great list of New Years resolutions written. The blogger survival kit was a good idea. At least he was thinking of you. My husband got me tights at a kiosk in a mall that won’t allow returns. I don’t wear tights. These things looks like something my niece would wear. Ya she’s a lot younger than me.

  3. Sorry you’ve been unwell but what a great excuse to get out of some of the hard slog that is Christmas!
I love the 2kg jar of Mayo and the blogger kit Hubby created. Not to mention that selfie stick!! Have fun with that one! Thanks so much for linking up on my end of year Christmas Linkup at Six Little Hearts and all the best for a magnificent 2015! x

  4. Urrgh the selfie stick! How does one take so many selfies that they need a specific device to do so? Haha, his heart was in the right place 🙂

  5. LOL! I too received a selfie stick for Christmas and although I will never EVER use it in public, it has come in handy for some of my outfit shots on Instagram. Hope you’re feeling refreshed and recovered soon and looking forward to more “Cases” in 2015! Happy New Year!

  6. Happy New Year. I’ve made goals for myself this year so that I have something to focus on. I kind of felt like I was floundering this year and it’s not something I’d like to repeat.

  7. dear raychael, I’m so sorry to hear that you’re not well! …
whatever is going on for you my dear?
maybe needing some serious therapy to clear some stuck stuff could be helpful!
a low key bbq on the deck with visiting family from Victoria and no resolutions here! … i’ll face the challenges as they roll in! … no promises though!;0
a pretty parasol arrived the other day thankyou very much!
also I do wish you a much happier time next year! … you are lovely!
    cheers to it! … m:)X

    • Not sure about needing some serious therapy, just need my health (auto immune) back on track and my new meds to start playing the game and not adding to the chaos.

So glad your parasol arrived. Have a wonderful new year Merilyn.

  8. Just about right I think! But a battery pack I think is needed in this loot! You have an amazing husband as I didnt get any from mine =P Happy New Year!

  9. Hope you’re feeling better. We’re having a quiet New Years and I don’t do resolutions. A few personal and business goals

  10. We usually play it low key on New Year’s, mostly because our kids are still pretty little. So we will be staying home and I will attempt to stay up past midnight. I don’t believe in resolutions instead I set goals for myself. Happy New Year!

  11. My new year’s resolution is to follow my dreams this year. No excuses.
I’m impressed with your husband’s creative present, especially given that you say he hates shopping. I hope you’re feeling better by now!

  12. Im sorry to hear you have not been feeling well and hope that will change soon for you. I love the thoughtfulness of the gift, the selfie stick is unique, I myself have not seen one before and it looks interesting, great idea too for a teenager BD.

I dont make resolutions rather I choose goals to aspire too and will be working on those soon

Wishing you a Happy New Year, be well my friend!
    Karren

  13. Sorry to hear you weren’t able to celebrate like you had planned! But as you said, it’s definitely the thought that counts. Hope you had a few quiet moments together as a family to lift your spirits!

Get better and enjoy 2015! Good luck with setting and sticking to your goals!

  14. That is so sweet! I was not into the selfie stick but my cousin had one and I will admit.. we had some fun with it. The rest of the gifts are quite helpful and I hope you have some down time and re group for 2015 🙂

  15. That gift is seriously the sweetest thing. I can’t imagine my husband coming up with that gift (though he is thoughtful) I just don’t think a lot of the men in our lives “get it.” All this time and effort and stress and thought that we put into our blogs. It’s cool to see that he gets it at least enough to support you. 🙂

  16. I am on the fence when it comes to the selfie stick! One part of me thinks they are all kinds of ridiculous, but when travelling I saw a lot of people using them and I thought what a great idea they are because when you travel alone and want to be in photos, sometimes the background is limited by the length of you arm! Lol….
Perhaps it’s kind of like karaoke….only done overseas where the risk of seeing anyone you know is limited and unlikely!
