Blog Linkups… Are YOU Worth Casing?

Worth Casing Wednesday Blog Link Up

Sending my Worth Casing Wednesday linkup off with a bang for 2016…

Blog Awards 2016 | Agent Mystery Case | Worth Casing Wednesday Linkup | Melbourne Street Art

Well I must confess, I didn’t see this one coming. After more than four years of hosting a linkup on Wednesday (with just the one or two small breaks, including a big chunk of last month), I’m completely pulling the plug.

Linkys are a whole lot of fun and a great way to connect with other bloggers but done correctly they are also a whole lot of work and take up a huge chunk of my time each week.

My social media time isn’t exactly my own right now and as much as I would like to be involved with everything that lands in my inbox and continue the linkup, it just isn’t possible. Rather than continue to feel like I’m only just coming to the party here, there and everywhere… I’ve decided to pick and choose my blogging and online battles for the remainder of the year and that means Worth Casing Wednesday needs to go.

So this sadly, is my last Worth Casing Wednesday post.

You say goodbye and I say Hello | Agent Mystery Case

I’ll be having a bit of a blogging break over Christmas and re-evaluating how I spend my online time, with the new business (a blog and PR agency) and my charity work taking up more and more of my time. Don’t get me wrong, the personal blog will definitely be making a comeback, just my approach to it and blogging in general will look a lot different.

Next year, the gap from pulling the Wednesday linkup will provide the time and the perfect space for a new initiative I’m launching.  Something that has me passionate and feeling positive about my online personal blogging endeavours, especially given all the recent negativity we’ve witnessed online of late. Some of which was a little too close to home for my liking. Leanne from Deep Fried Fruit, touched on some of the issues this week with a positive spin… lemon trees, trolls and rose gardens!

NOT ALL LINKUPS ARE GOING, GOING, GONE!

Our monthly Aussie Giveaway Linkup is still a perfect fit here as we focus on Reviews & Giveaways. Now with added co-hosts, AGL is the perfect place to linkup your blog or business giveaway for more exposure. It kicks off on the first of the month. Each and every month. So no Christmas break for this particular one.

More Wednesday Linkups…

If you are looking for somewhere new to link up your posts on Wednesday, I would head over and say hello to Trish from My Little Drummer Boys and Stephanie from Stephs Joy who returns to blogging and her Wednesday linkup today, after an extended break.

Worth Casing Wednesday Blog Link Up

As we say goodbye to Worth Casing Wednesday, rather than just linking up this week’s blog post, why not select your favourite blog post from the year.

Have you given any thoughts or made any blogging plans for 2017? Are you taking any time off over Christmas and New Years?

Awww, you will be missed. Thanks for everything you have done.

As for me, blogging keeps me sane. It is the one creative outlet I have in life that nobody close to me knows about to make fun of. I might have a slow here coming up for a week because I will be out of town but other than that, it is full steam ahead.

    • Thanks Pat, have thoroughly enjoyed connecting with you here on Wednesdays. I will definitely be keeping in touch and linking up occasionally with you, when I have the chance next year. Enjoy your time out of town.

  • You’ll be missed!
I linked before I read your post to the end, so I will need to sit back and have a think about my favourite posts for 2016. Hmmm ….

Thanks for the Lemon Trees shout out! Hope you’re week is better than the last. x o

  • I will miss this Weds linkup but I totally understand your need to move on. I will be happily keeping watch as to how things evolve here. If you need a hand with anything, please shout out. Xx

    • Thanks Jody. It was a tough decision but something that needed to be done. In the interim it will give me a little more time to throw at our Aussie Giveaway Linkup.

  • I blogged today because it is your last Wednesday link up….and I am so, so appreciative of your on-going support for me and so many of us…despite your health challenges!

I also blogged today because my life has been changing over the period of blogging daily since 1 Jan 2015 and I NEEDED to share something incredibly helpful for me…that may be for others.

This is what our blogging community is about …sharing and connecting..and I thank you once more for the whole-hearted way in which you have been (and continue to be) a leader in this field!! Denyse xxx

    • Thanks Denyse that is such a lovely thing to hear and I’m really looking forward to reading your post. As sad as it is to say goodbye to the linkup, it really will free up my time so I can continue to support our blogging community and other endeavours closer to my heart right now. Just in other ways.

  • Agree with Leanne you will be missed. I’ve really appreciated your link ups! I will have to think about my favorite for the year too.

    • Thanks. Feel free to link a couple of favourites up Stephanie and you’ll probably see me online one way or another more now that the linkup is going, going, gone. I just honestly didn’t feel like I was doing it justice after four long years.

  • I think this was the first place I linked up! It is good to have a change and I look forward to hearing more about your new projects.

    • Thanks. It’s been fun hosting the linkup and connecting but it really is time for me to move on. Looking forward to connecting and collaborating with you in other blogging ways. I’m super excited about the projects on the horizon.

  • Dianne Childs

I’ll enter my hubby attempting to explain makeup post, because it was so fun to work on! I’ll be sad to see your linky go (along with so many others lately!) but understand a lot of work is involved in hosting linkies (I know I wouldn’t have the time to do it, so kudos to anyone who can run them)! I hope things go well with your new Blog/PR Agency and I hope you have a nice break coming up!

    Di from Max The Unicorn

    • Thanks Di. Looking forward to reading your post. Sounds hilarious and reminds me of the time I took hubby on a dirty weekend to review our new Dyson handstick.

Make sure you link up all your review posts for our Aussie Review Crew Linkup and giveaway.

  • Michelle @ Jarrah Jungle

Sorry to see the link up close and thank you so much for your time and effort you have put into it over these years its been a great way to connect with bloggers 🙂

    • Thanks Michelle. It has been a great way to connect with bloggers. I will still be doing lots of connecting, just via other means. Have you joined our private Facebook group ‘Blog Exchange’?

      • Michelle @ Jarrah Jungle

No I haven’t but I will go and check it out now! Thanks x

  • I think you’ve made a brave decision to finish your link up Raychael. Doing what’s right for you isn’t always easy, but it’s the only way to be truly happy. I wish you all the best x 😀

    • Thanks Lyndall, not sure brave is the right word but I’m happy with my decision but it needed to be done.

  • I usually take a break over the Christmas period and have a no-blogging period. It helps remind me why I blog (I love / miss writing)!

    xx

    • I have a threatre review on New Years Eve this year. A limited season show, which will see me blogging briefly in my break but it’s a show I’ve been really wanting to see.

I’m hoping the break re-ignites my love of writing and blogging.

  • writeofthemiddle

Completely understand your need to evaluate how you spend your time online Raychael. I’ve had to pull back quite a bit over recent months. I plan on taking a bloggy break over the Christmas period too. I look forward to seeing what plans you have in the new year, particularly the new initiative in Feb that you speak of! 🙂 #TeamLovinLife

    • I would love to do it all and I’m certainly full of crazy blogging ideas but yes, something had to give.

  • Thanks for hosting the link-up; pretty sure it was my first! Sad to see it go but look forward to what’s next on the horizon.

    • Thanks Beth. I just didn’t feel like I could do the linkup any justice and still pull off some of my crazy blogging ideas. Although I must admit, there is less of the crazy and more of… well time will tell.

  • I think you’re very wise to re-evaluate how you spend your blogging time. We can chug along with our heads down just getting things done, meanwhile the world is changing (don’t we know it #recentelection) and the online world changes almost as fast as we can blink (it seems). I can’t wait to see what you’ll do next and your new projects sound intriguing. Yep, I’ll be taking a bloggie break over Xmas – need to hone back in on family and what’s really important.

    • Thanks Jo, I’m really looking forward to 2017, the projects coming up sit well with me, more than anything I’ve done online so far and will be a fantastic way for me to invest my spare time.

  • Yes, linkups are a lot of work. I hosted one very briefly a couple of years ago. As for linking up my best post of the year, it’s gonna take me a while to work out which one it is!

    • Plenty of time to enter Janet. Perhaps link up your top 2 or 3.

  • Sarah @sarahdipityblog

Sounds like you’ve got lots of exciting things to look forward to in the future so can totally understand wanting to focus on that and the need to let some things go x

    • I think it is that time of year as well. When things get more than a little crazy and chaotic which has me questioning all I’m involved with. Are you having time off over Christmas Sarah?

      • Sarah @sarahdipityblog

I sure am, two blissful weeks down the beach and I can’t wait!

  • Sorry to hear that you will not be hosting anymore, but best of luck on all your future blogging endeavors! : )

    —Charles

    • Thanks so much Charles. I’ll still be connecting with everyone, just in different ways.

  • There are so many link parties that I never hear about – this one sounds great and I know exactly what you mean about it taking up a lot of your time. I used to cohost Over The Moon linky on Mondays but it became too time consuming. I linked up today and wish you all the best for your new endeavours!

    • I have an Aussie list that I really should get around to publishing.

  • Onwards and upwards – your future is looking so bright, you’ll have to wear shades! I’m looking forward to Mystery Case – The Sequel!

    • So many ideas and just not enough time or energy to pull them all off but I think I’ve come up with a manageable way forward. What I really need is a stunt double or to join forces with someone.

  • Life Images by Jill

I understand completely what you mean about Linky parties and the time they take if you do it properly. I find that too much of my time is taken up by social media, and not enough time spent doing real things. So I wish you well for the future and whatever it holds for you and many good wishes for your upcoming projects.

    • I’m craving more and more time out from the social media side of things myself. Just finding that side of things a tad exhausting right now.

  • I’m taking a blogging break myself right now. And I completely understand the need to reevaluate how you spend your time online. There’s so much to do, and it’s impossible to do it all! Good luck!

    • That’s my problem. All the ideas and no time to do them all justice. I like to think I’m getting better at picking and choosing my online battles.

  • I wish you well with your new projects for the coming year Raychael. You are always so generous with your time and encouragement. I’ve linked up a post that I wrote just the other day. I hope that’s okay. I’m very late to this party so I will pop around all the other linkers posts in the coming days. Happy New Year to you and yours. Xx

    • Thanks Sandra. I’m really excited about 2017, even the toned down version. Thanks for linking up, I’m looking forward to catching up with blog reading in the new year, starting with everyone that has linked up. Happy New year to you and yours as well. xx
